After-School Drop-In Art Program
Available Mondays through Fridays until 5pm for kids of all ages.
This program is for children and youth ages 7-18 with an interest in the arts. Kids are encouraged to be self-directed artists; to develop and explore their own creative ideas in response to materials and themes provided by The Art Garden. The program encourages freedom of expression, self-discovery, caring, and respect for differences. Kids bring their curiosity and imagination, and should anticipate being inspired by each other. Experienced art teacher, Jane Beatrice Wegscheider, will facilitate the program.
Advanced artistic mentoring is available upon request for teenagers preparing portfolios for college, or seeking advanced instruction in drawing, painting and mixed-media. Instruction is tailored to the student’s interests.
Parents/guardians are welcome to work on their own projects simultaneously with their children in the studio. Additional family members receive a 50% discount for drop-in studio time. Family memberships are also available (see Hours and Fees.)
Cost for the After-school Art Program for kids attending without a parent/guardian are the same as our basic drop-in rate (see Hours and Fees.) After-school classes are also offered (see calendar for details.)
Parent/child Creative Playtime
Parents/guardians with children under the age of 7 and parents/guardians who want to work and play collaboratively with their older children are welcome at The Art Garden also. (Please see Family Memberships under Hours and Fees.) Ideas, support and resources for age-appropriate activities are available.
