Upcoming Workshops for Adults at The Art Garden:
Monday, January 25th, 6-9pm:
Paper Marbling, Paper Making, Paper Stamping, Etcetera!
Hand-made papers can be used for book-making, personalized cards, journals, gift wrap, collage, etc!
Workshop participants will learn a variety of techniques for making and decorating their own papers.
Decorating techniques include paste paper, oil marbling, suminagashi marbling, pattern stamping and acrylic transfers.
Participants will learn how to make paper and colored paper pulp from recycled paper.
Handmade papers can be personalized with additions of photocopied text and images.
Small Hand-made Book Projects (Monday, February 1, 6-9pm)
Participants will learn how to create small hand-made books from a variety of simple and complex patterns. From simple and elegant folio and signature bindings to whimsical and sculptural book art based on accordion-fold techniques to japanese stab bindings, participants will explore book structures that can be used for journals, chapbooks, sketchbooks, special cards and sculptural storytelling.
Detailed step-by-step instruction as well as models and patterns will be provided to participants.
Please note that for this workshop, having your own bone folder, metal ruler, x-acto blade holder and self-healing mat for cutting would be very helpful.
Mixed-Media Valentines (Monday, February 8, 6-9pm)
Participants will use a variety of The Art Garden’s materials along with their own personal memorabilia to create unique valentines.
$30 per workshop includes materials and instruction.
