A few weeks ago, Laura Iveson and Jane Wegscheider installed these colorful HooPla shovels near the Arms Library in Shelburne Falls…a bit of winter whimsy to lighten people’s spirits.

Even when the world is a dark place, our human nature pushes us to celebrate life, to remember the joy that we are here.
It is easy to be consumed by all of the large, and scary, and terrible things happening in our world. However, we need to see the colors, and beauty, and light around us, to endure the heartbreak of the world without drowning in it.
We start changing the world by changing the world right outside our front doors, and we believe even one small, beautiful creative act shared with our community helps to change our world for the better.
The Art Garden is offering supplies for creating temporary, fiber art pieces to wrap around poles and trees in Shelburne Falls and/or your community: art-messages of hope, love and encouragement that people walking by can see.
We have yarn, felt, embroidery floss, fabric, and felting supplies
(old wool sweaters, felting needles and colorful wool roving).
Pick up supplies at The Art Garden on:
Sunday, March 27, 2pm – 4pm
Tuesday, March 29, 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Saturday, April 2, 11am – 2pm
Please remember to be respectful of other people’s property and aware of your environmental impact. Secure your work so it doesn’t blow away or create trash. Take a picture and share it on The Art Garden’s Facebook or Instagram.
We’ll be taking our artworks down at the end of April in time for May flowers!
We are grateful to the following Local Cultural Councils for support of this work: Ashfield, Buckland, Charlemont/Hawley, Colrain, Conway, Heath, Rowe & Shelburne!
Thank you also to the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for their support!
