Call for Mail Art

The Art Garden invites you to participate in a MAIL ART exhibit:

Mail Art can be many things: decorated envelopes, hand-made postcards, non-monetary artist stamps, &&&. Many works combine text and image. And all mail art moves through the postal system and is handled and seen by mail carriers and postal workers.

Mail Art exhibits are unjuried and often take place outside traditional gallery settings. We plan to display Moving Through Mail Art submissions in Shelburne Falls shop windows.

Two sides of an envelope created by former ARTeen Emma Musante for a mail art exhibit a few years ago.

“Moving Through”  is also an optional theme. We invite you to reflect on and make a mail art piece that shares how YOU are moving through these difficult times. OR make a mail art piece as one small way to move through.

Mail artists often use collage techniques. The Art Garden has LOTS of collage materials that we are happy to share. Please email csartgarden@gmail.com to set up an appointment to gather supplies.

Submissions should be mailed to:

The Art Garden
4 Union Street
Shelburne Falls, MA 01370

Please mail so that your work arrives by November 20, 2021.

Submissions should be relatively 2 dimensional, for easier window display.

This community exhibit is supported in part by the following Local Cultural Councils: Ashfield, Buckland, Charlemont/Hawley, Colrain, Conway, Heath, Leyden, Plainfield, Rowe & Shelburne!     We are so grateful!
