Applications for Fall ARTeens program available now

Online applications are now available for ARTeens, our pay-what-you-can, afterschool program for teens who love making art.

Fall sessions begin the week of October 25 and run through December 15.

Fall sessions are offered on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Applicants choose which day works best for their schedules.

Participating teens arrive at The Art Garden between 2:30 – 3:30pm
and the program ends at 6pm. The fall sessions run for seven weeks.

ARTeens is facilitated by working artists Laura Iveson and Jane Beatrice Wegscheider. ARTeens provides an opportunity for teens to cultivate their art practice in The Art Garden’s supportive, intergenerational studio.

ARTeens is a pay-what-you-can program. All contributions help make the program possible. The program costs $350 per session, and no one is ever turned away due to lack of funds.

Based on current Covid-19 information, this fall we will be following Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines. We are not requiring masks but will support anyone who chooses to wear a mask. Our studio has two HEPA air purifiers. More details will be provided to applicants and their families prior to the start of the program.

Ecology of Sound with Ricardo Frota, July 10, 2pm, free outdoor performance behind Arms Library, Shelburne Falls

Ricardo Frota brings an exciting and dramatic performance that inspires children and parents to absorb the rhythms, sounds, and music from around the world.  Ricardo entertains and educates while playing multi-cultural songs from indigenous peoples from many cultures.  He incorporates African, South American, Native American, and Brazilian music into an interactive and exciting experience for people of all ages.  His performance uses traditional rhythm instruments, and instruments made of recycled materials and objects found in nature.
